The USS Sheppard is a Play by Second Life Simulation set in the Star Trek universe of the late 24th century (after the Voyager and Nemesis storyline). The Sheppard was originally launched April 2, 2010 as part of United Federation Starfleet.
In-story
Concept
The USS Sheppard was named after early 21st-century Earth astronomer Scott S. Sheppard. He was credited, among other things, with the discovery of many small moons of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. He has also discovered the second known Neptune Trojan, 2004 UP10 as well as several Kuiper Belt Objects, Centaurs, and Near Earth Asteroids.
Setting
The USS Sheppard, NCC-74679, is a Intrepid Class Starship launched in 2385 and currently under the command of Captain Mulgrave Dwi. For most of its first year and second year, the Sheppard's mission was to explore the Midgar sector in search of the lost USS Denmark and its crew. After the disappearance of most of the crew, Captain Hanna Kestrel was placed in command and ordered to begin an investigation into the loss of her former Captain and missing crew.
