Sam Jones is a retired simmer with roots in Tango Fleet and Sixth Fleet. He began his simming career in 2001 when he applied to Tango Fleet Academy under the enlisted program. Since then, he has held numerous posts in the aforementioned fleets and elsewhere. Particularly, his service as Sixth Fleet Commander-in-Chief between 2008 and 2010 has been recognized via the Simming Prize in 2009.  Within Sixth Fleet, he holds a Fleet Rank of Rear Admiral. Today, Sam mostly writes in short-form Dungeons & Dragons play-by-post.

In 2009 Sam took part in the 8th Annual Interfleet BetleH Tournament hosted by Bravo Fleet's Starbase Camelot. He played Mek'tor in the tournament.

Due to his service in judging the Tournament of Simulations, Sam was awarded a 2017 OWCH.

In real life, Sam is an aviation meteorologist. He holds a Masters of Science in Applied Meteorology, and has served in the United States Air Force as a weather officer. Sam is also married with two children.
