A minotaur is a creature with body of a human, and the head or sometimes also a part of the upper body of a bull.

The original Minotaur resided in the Cretan Labyrinth, designed by Daedalus, and was also known by the proper name Asterion. He was the son of the Cretan king Minos' wife and a bull. King Minos however locked him up and demanded young boys and maidens from Athens to lock them up in the labyrinth.
