Independence Fleet (or IDF) is a Star Trek Role Play by E-mail (RPBE) club that was founded in 2001. IDF is notable for its fleet-wide monthly awards for simming excellence (2001-2004; 2005; 2010-current), a monthly newsletter (2001-2004; 2005; 2010-current), and its volitile history. On its ten-year anniversary in 2011, IDF inducted the first ten members into its Hall of Fame. Since 2010, IDF has been very active in the simming community.

History

Independence Fleet was launched on July 4th, 2001 by James D. West, Charles Star, and Robert Seldon. Its original three sims were the USS Sunfire, USS Avalon, and USS Washington. IDF has operated continuously ever since.

Hall of Fame

Independence Fleet's Hall of Fame exists to recognize individuals for exemplary service or extraordinary contributions to the fleet. To be eligible, players must be inactive for at least one year prior to induction and not be on the official censured list. The first class was inducted on July 4th, 2011, the fleet's ten-year anniversary.
